Hand Crafted, Hand Painted

After this chair was built by our skilled hands Anne Ewen lovingly painted it by hand with real gold leaf and carefully formulated paint. This chair is part of a set that includes two chairs and an amazing coffee table. Like fingerprints or snowflakes, no two are alike.

What Does Artisanal Mean?

More than you ever wanted to know about the origin of "Artisanal"

ar·ti·san
(ärt-zn, -sn)
n.
A skilled manual worker; a craftsperson.

[Probably French, from Italian artigiano, from Vulgar Latin *artitinus, from Latin arttus, skilled in the arts, past participle of artre, to instruct in the arts, from ars, art-, art; see ar- in Indo-European roots.]

arti·san·al (ärt-z-nl, -s-, ärt-znl) adj.
arti·san·ship n.

And I thought it was an acronym for Aaron R. Thomas IS ANAL... I guess it pays to look things up

New Painted Furniture

Anne has been busy in our studio creating some amazing new hand painted acrylic furniture. I can't even begin to explain the amount of depth and color that are in the new pieces but words will not do them justice. I will get photos up as soon as they are available.

Our New Studio and Gallery Space

This is a photo of our new studio and gallery space next door. Like pirates taking over a sinking ship we jumped on board of the vacant warehouse next door and turned it into a working studio and gallery. Unlike pirates, we patched the ship and got it floating again. We stripped the floors, added lighting, hung art, brought in supplies, and are dishing out treasure by the boatload.

Hand Crafted and Designed

This is a photo of Aaron R. Thomas working on the blade desk designed by Charles Hollis Jones. The way we differ from most designers, even premiere acrylic designers like C.H.Jones, is that we actually build our furniture by hand.

This photo shows a couple of our custom acrylic "Darren" Barstools being built for a client. We think about every detail when we design our furniture. For this project we actually spent hours researching the correct swivels and bought several different versions before finding one that would allow the correct movement with the right amount of effort.
